Full Moon racing at Punta Gorda Speedway

It was a full night of racing at the Punta Gorda Speedway with all the “Backbone” classes on tap. The backbone classes are the ones that run most of the Saturday nights, but more importantly are the classes that really support the track. They are the drivers that show up to every race, bring their family, friends and neighbors, that truly support the track and put on the best show that keeps the fans coming back. The drivers mom’s and wife’s were still fighting hard to save the speedway, as the petition signing continued and everyone asking what can we do next to save our speedway.

At the halfway point of racing, speedway owners brought the entire PGS staff to the winners circle for a group photo to show he is not only fighting for the fans and drivers but his entire loyal staff. After a few words, the fans cheered for the staff and the owners Kevin and Terry Williams for all their hard work fighting to keep the speedway open.

Before the first feature started, drivers walked through the stands collecting for a fellow racer that had lost his wife and everyone was very generous.

Racers are a close bunch and when one is in need of anything they show up to do what they can.

The first feature was the Cowboy Cadillac and what a race from start to finish.

The top four trucks were side by side, digging harder and harder every lap that was anyone’s race till the checkers dropped. When the checkers dropped after twenty five laps of good hard racing it was the 92 of Mike Bialecki who crossed first, Jeff Deeble second and Rick Mills third.

Open Wheel Modifieds saw L.B. Skaggs bring home another win but was challenged by Steve Arnold who was second and Roger Blevins third.
